Raising Teenagers: Premarital Sex and STDs go Hand in Hand
Every parent wants their child to wait until they get married before having sex unfortunately; this is not the case the majority of the time. Raising teenagers, premarital sex and STD’s go hand in hand. Most teenagers just don’t seem to understand that there is a real danger. They think that because they are young and having sex with someone they know this means they are safe. However, this is not the case. STD’s have increased dramatically over the past thirty-five to forty years. It has become a very serious problem that needs to be gotten back under control.
Raising teenagers, premarital sex and STDs is a big problem. If teenagers understood just how serious STDs really are they might be a little more careful before having sex. However, they don’t seem to grasp the reality of many of these diseases. It’s true that many of them can be treated and cured if caught in time, on the other hand many of them cannot. Even the ones that can be treated need to be caught in the early stages to prevent doing damage to your body. With teenagers this could be a problem because many of them don’t want their parents to find out so they ignore any warning signs that they may have. When the diseases lingers it causes more problems and is spread even further between more teenagers.
Raising teenagers, premarital sex and STDs causes many teenagers to be faced with having to deal with medical conditions such as gonorrhea, crab lice, syphilis and herpes. These are just a few of the STDs that can be spread from person to person. The problem is that teenagers are not old enough and responsible enough to protect themselves from these diseases. It is hard for them to understand why someone with any of these problems would intentionally spread it to another person. Sadly many people feel like someone gave it to them so it’s only fair they give it to someone else. Others just don’t realize they even have a disease. Teenagers are simply to trusting and end up getting in big trouble because of this.
Raising teenagers, premarital sex and STDs causes one of the deadliest viruses around to be transmitted to millions of people each year. This would be the deadly HIV. This cannot be cured and for over half of these people it gets even worse. For a regrettable number of teens the HIV virus will eventually turn into AIDS. The best solution is for teenagers to reframe from having sex, but since this is unlikely the next best thing is for them to learn how to be responsible. Avoid having multiply partners, use protection and take time to plan ahead before interacting sexually. Parents can help by trying to explain the dangers and helping teenagers to become as responsible as possible.
