Potty Training a Pug - Patience and Persistence Are the Keys to Success

Potty training a pug is possible as long as you start to train them when they’re puppies. Since the puppy won’t have bladder control until 6 weeks of age, the owner will need to be patient and diligent. To housetrain a puppy, the owner needs to watch them at all times in the house and look for cues that they are ready to go outside. Using rewards, treats, and praise will help to housebreak the puppy. When the owner isn’t home, using the crate method is effective. This involves leaving the dog in the crate until they’re ready to relieve themselves outside. Although the process takes time, the benefits of having a fully trained dog are immeasurable.

Looking for Picky Eater Help that Can Help?

While most adults and some children look forward to new food experiences, understand and accept that your picky eater will look forward to eating the same foods over and over again. This often gives them a sense of comfort and security, which is generally not hazardous to their health unless it is sugar or sodium laden. Studies have shown that repeated exposure to foods greatly increases the likelihood even a picky eater child will eat it. Some experts feel that new food has to be offered anywhere from 8 to 18 times before it is acceptable. You can prepare the food in different ways, but offer it on a consistent basis, especially when your picky eater child will be the hungriest.

Offering food as part of a nutrition activity or snack may make it more interesting. Also seeing other children sample foods may encourage a picky eater to become more adventurous. If you know in advance that one or more of the food choices will be met with howls of disgust, have something else available that your picky eater will find pleasing to his or her palate. Encourage your picky child to taste one of the “repulsive” foods before chowing down on one of the more desirable ones, but do not be offended if he or she refuses.

Family And Relative Vacation Destinations

The first thing I did was go to the bookstore to thumb through some of the newer travel guides. I found a couple of books that were dedicated to highlighting family vacation spots, and was able to get some good ideas from them. I then checked through a few travel magazines too, but saw that they pretty much covered the same family vacation spots that the books did.

The next thing I did was check the Internet for friends and family vacation spots. I was simply overwhelmed by the amount of information my searches returned! There seemed to be thousands and thousands of websites devoted to family vacation spots. I was able to get information about national parks, campgrounds, cruises, and other family-friendly travel ideas. In addition, I discovered that many hotels and resort properties offer all-inclusive packages aimed at families. I had always been under the impression that those kinds of packages were reserved for singles or couples, but I guess I was wrong. The all-inclusive deals seemed to good to pass up, so I decided to book a package at one of the new family and friends vacation spots that I just learned about. Plus, by booking online, I was able to save even more money off the already low price, so I was definitely pleased with the way things turned out.

Training Your Puppy - Three Valuable Training Tips

Puppy house training need not be as difficult as you may think and can be fun. There are a number of excellent puppy training tips that can help you teach your new dog. Play is a very large part of any puppy’s early life. But were you aware that playtime can also be learning time as well? Play can be a valuable tool in teaching your puppy everything from learning simple commands to teaching them the ins and outs of socializing and what it takes to be a well behaved dog.

When Puppy training there are three basic things that a puppy - even one as young as six weeks old - needs to start learning. The first and most useful of those things is simply the word, “No.” You will be using that command repeatedly during your relationship with your dog and so it is very important that he knows it from the start.

And it’s easy. Dogs, even puppies, are adept at recognizing tone of voice. When they learn to associate a displeased, forceful tone of voice with the word no, you will not in the future have to be so forceful in your utterances. But first you do have to get his attention. When the pup does something wrong, simply pick him up, gain eye contact and tell him very firmly, “No.” It will get an immediate reaction. Depending on your pup’s personality, he will drop his head and become sheepish, growl or attempt to talk you out of it by asking you to play. If either of the latter two happens, you will have to repeat the command to show that you are not kidding.

Then, simply let it go. Put the pup down and keep a watchful eye on his response. A rebellious pup may repeat the action as a way to test you, in which case you need to repeat the process. Be gentle, but be firm and consistent and your pup should get the message.

As for the other things that your baby needs to know, you will probably default to teaching him the proper way to go potty. This is actually easier than you might think, as pups are a lot smarter than they look. Timing is, however, everything. If you notice a puddle on the floor and your pup has since gone off to play with his ball, the only thing you can do is clean it up and watch him more closely. Don’t rub his nose in it, or he will simply be hurt and confused. What you want to do is catch him in the act. When you see him start to take a tinkle, grab him and take him outside. Chances are he will be so shocked that he will save some for the yard, and when he goes there you can praise him lavishly.

The third thing that your pup needs to know is that he should never put his teeth on a human being. This is a tough one, as it is so much fun to play “bite” with a youngster. But when they are older, you really don’t want them to play so rough. So when you play with him, be sure to do so with toys that are okay for him to bite. If he bites when you are trying to pet him, tell him no and give him his toy or put his toy right in his mouth. If he persists, pick him up and tell him no. If you are consistent, you should get good results.

Once your pup understands his first command, goes potty in the proper spots and ceases puppy-biting, he is on his way to becoming a well-socialized dog and a pleasure to be around.

Buying A Rebounder : Make Sure You’ve DOne Your Homework

Trampolines can be therapeutic and entertaining and even cost-effective. Both family and friends alike can enjoy the addition of a trampoline. Trampolines also come in a variety of styles and colors to suit every decor.

But there are some things to consider before purchasing a trampoline for your backyard or family room. First, ask if it is wise to get a trampoline for your child. Also check to see if a trampoline will affect your homeowners insurance. Before making the purchase, make sure you research the difference between indoor trampolines and outdoor trampolines.

Trampolines and Your Child

Trampolines are great exercise for children. They help their cardiovascular fitness as well as improve their lymphatic circulation and balance and coordination.

But buying a trampoline for your child can also be hazardous. Serious injuries can occur with improper use or if the trampoline is cared for improperly. The most common injuries are muscle tears and strains, cuts and scrapes. Always supervise your child while using a trampoline to prevent serious injury.

Trampolines and Homeowners’ Insurance

Before buying a trampoline for your child, check your homeowners insurance policy, because many homeowners’ insurance companies will not pay out for injuries or damage caused by the trampoline. So always check with your agent or your landlord before getting a trampoline for your child.

Another option for getting a trampoline for your child is purchasing an indoor one. Though smaller, they can provide many hours of fun, and many of the same benefits. These smaller trampolines are easier to store, making them ideal for apartments and homes with a small yard. However, you still want to contact your landlord or insurance agent to make sure any injuries or damage sustained will be covered.

What Are Trampolines Good For?

The good news is that trampolines are great therapeutic tools for kids with sensory integration problems or hyperactivity issues. While these may not have been factors you considered before, when you get a trampoline for your child, it is something to keep in mind.

A trampoline may just be the ideal exercise outlet for your child. On hot summer days, plopping a sprinkler beneath the trampoline, or getting an optional accessory such as a camping top, can provide hours of fun for the whole family and provide a refreshing break from the heat. Just don’t forget the sunscreen and always put safety first!

Stress Free Life Tips For Moms

Both Working and Stay-at-Home Moms are super busy all day - there is always something that needs to be done. From working a 9-5 job helping with school projects late into the night, or from attending soccer games to chaperoning a slumber party, Mom never seems to be in one place for too long.

This hectic schedule increases stress levels, and stress can impact many areas of life such as work, family, and other relationships. Stress can cause Mom to experience frustration, short fuse, and lack of focus. For busy moms, stress management is a fundamental need.

Here are eight tips to assist in living a more stress free life.

1. Determine, no matter what, to schedule time for yourself. For some busy moms, maybe it’s a soothing bubble bath at the end of the day, when Dad can watch the kids for a while. For others, it could be a quick trip to the local nail salon while the kids are in school. The activity really doesn’t matter as long as busy moms take some time for themselves.

2. Listen to calm, soothing music on the way to work, while at work, and while going to sleep. Music has a way of calming and soothing the mind body.

3. Practice deep abdominal breathing periodically throughout the day. Breath in deeply through the nose pulling the belly button toward the spine, hold for a few seconds, and then slowly release. Busy moms will be pleasantly surprised at how this simple technique can result in a more relaxed body and mind.

4. Take the time to exercise. Exercise — even something as simple as taking a 15-minute walk around the neighborhood, taking walks on lunch breaks, taking the steps instead of an elevator, or parking farther away when shopping — helps increase self-esteem, decrease depression, increase focus and stamina, and gives one a greater sense of control over stress.

5. Eat Healthy. There are foods that promote calmness as well as foods that increase stress levels. Busy moms should ask themselves if they are consuming too much sugar or caffeine, and if they are getting enough protein. Eating fresh fruits and vegetables and staying away from refined and processed foods also help. Healthy eating is very important for any busy mom. Taking a look at your eating habits and making the necessary changes can result in increased optimal health.

6. Call a friend. It is always important to have at least one relationship where Mom can just vent and know that a listening ear and unconditional acceptance will be given.

7. Calm Your Thoughts. Our thoughts create the lives we live so be aware of what you think about. Abraham said ‘Worrying is using your imagination to create something you don’t want’. What are you creating with your worries?

8. Don’t Forget To Laugh. Laughing is good for you and with children around there are usually lots of things to laugh at -from the things they say to the things you find yourself saying back to them. Learning to laugh at yourself is a great thing to teach your children. Besides, studies have shown that you burn more calories laughing than jogging.

Busy moms can follow the above eight tips for a more stress free life!

Potty Training Seat vs Potty Chair: Work Out What Is Right For You

Learning to use the Potty is a rite of passage for every toddler. Deciding how and when to potty train can be a rite in and of itself for the toddler’s parents. They have to decide how to do it and how to deal with problems. A Potty Training Seat may be the best thing for your toddler.

portable potty seat Or Potty Chair: What’s The Difference?

potty training toilet seats look and feel a lot more like the regular toilet than a potty chair. This may be a plus in your toddler’s mind, since he is using the big guy’s toilet and not a baby one. When deciding how you want to potty train, keep in mind your toddler’s personality and motivation.

A Potty Training Seat is simply a smaller, usually cushioned, seat that fits on top of and around the regular toilet ring on your toilet at home. You can find a Potty Training Seat in just about any color your toddler is partial to. You can also find a Potty Training Seat with many popular characters on them, including Sesame Street characters, Blue’s Clues, and Dora the Explorer.

Potty Training Seat s, over potty chairs, also take up much less room. If you buy a potty chair, it will need its own spot in the bathroom. With a Potty Training Seat , the only thing you will need is a small area to store it when it’s not in use. Usually you can fit the Potty Training Seat in your bathroom cabinet or even just on the floor beside the toilet.

It is probably easier for a child to use a Potty Training Seat on their own as they are at the right height for a child. Potty Training Seat s usually have to be positioned in place and there can be a risk of them moving around which may make your child feel unsafe or it could pinch their skin if it gets caught between the two seats.

No matter which method you choose to potty train your toddler, eventually they will be successfully trained. It may still be some time before they can independantly use the toilet, but at least one less passage is rite-d.

Forms Of Child Discipline : A Logical Approach

Every decision has its consequences. Everyone learns this–some easier than others. Some people have to learn the “hard way”. Some learn early from the discipline of parents that there are consequences to actions. But as parents, how can we chose forms of child discipline?

One of the easiest and most used ways to discipline a child (even if you don’t realize it) is to use “if/then” consequences. (Everyone has heard, and many parents have even used, this: “IF you do not finish your peas, THEN you get no dessert.”).

Before beginning to use this method, there are a few things parents need to understand:

1. There is a world of difference between “punishing” your child and “disciplining” her. Punishment is meant to show power and strength, but little love. Discipline teaches a child what behavior they exhibited that was unacceptable, and helps them to understand why. Children also learn what you want them to do next time.

2. Never discipline your child when you are angry or upset. Reprimand the behavior at the time, but wait to discipline until you (and your child) have calmed down.

3. Always tell your child that the behavior–not her, is unacceptable. Do not assume that your child knows this, tell her every time you need to discipline her.

4. Make the consequences of your child’s action appropriate to the behavior, and make them immediate. (Also make sure that the consequences are things you both can live with. Telling your child that you’ll leave him home for the next outing when you–and he–know that you won’t, is not effective).

5. Rewards for good behavior should not be monetary, nor should they be expensive gifts. We parents do not get money, cars, expensive gifts, etc., for doing the right thing, and we do not want to teach our children that she will be rewarded for doing the right thing. Rewards should be based on the effort your child makes, not necessarily a perfect outcome.

6. Be consistent! Children thrive on consistency. If he gets away with something once, he’ll try it again. Being inconsistent not only aggravates you, but can exacerbate the situation.

7. Make sure both parents are on the same page, and are consistent. (Ever since there have been children and parents, children have been telling Dad “But Mom said…” or vice versa.)

Once you know what each consequence or reward is, schedule a time to talk to your child. Make sure that there are no distractions (such as the TV or cell phones) on either side. Schedule a time when you are relaxed and calm, and so is your child. Tell your child what you expect, and why you want to make the changes. Keep the discussion brief, and make it appropriate to her age level. Let your child know that you love him, and because you love him, that the two of you are going to work on changing some unacceptable behaviors.

The “if/then” discipline method, if used consistently, should help your child every time. However, if you continue to have problems with your child, you may want to look into professional help as there may be emotional issues or learning disabilities that may be an underlying factor.

The most important thing parents can do is to instill good values into a child. One of the easiest ways to do this is to teach children that there are consequences to her actions.
