Some Things I Like About Travel Which I Am Meant To Dislike

Airports. Flying. Hotels.

We are meant to hate them all . But I love them all - all three are great fun travel experiences. Here’s why.

Airports.

Are exciting places. You can always feel the great variety of human passions swirling through them. Whenever I’m in one I’m always going somewhere interesting, going home or with somebody who is doing one of these. So there is always some kind of significant emotion going on.

I love the departure lounge, the feeling of anticipation. I love going through customs. Shopping for duty free. Hugging and waving goodbye. Though I’m totally with Douglas Adams, the author who once wrote “It is not by accident that no culture on Earth has ever come up the phrase ‘as pretty as an airport’”.

Flying

Is amazing. For starters, every time you fly you do something every single person who ever lived before 1900 dreamed of doing but couldn’t. Think about that - Da Vinci, Caesar, Shakespeare, Newton - people who accomplished phenomonal things. All would have given much to have experienced what exhausted businessmen complain about.

Anyway flying is fun. You get enforced closure from the world so you can sit there and read, write, watch films, play games, think or whatever without distractions. How often do you get the chance outside of flying. Stewards bring free food and drink to you. Great little meals inside cute little compartments.

You get phenomenal views outside your window. You get to travel to the other side of the world. Or a city near you. Very quickly.

Hotels

Hotels are cool. You get a perfectly made up room. And its neat. You get to feel excited as you unpack.

Weird things in hotels are fun. The tight bedsheets. The folded arrow shape on the toilet paper. The long and trippy hallways.

The reason we travel is to experience things anew, to feel fresh and alive. Whether its a resort, a backpacker hostel or something else. We travel for the experience. All of it. Even the bits we are meant to hate.

Consider Christchurch Port Hills When You Want To Stay In Christchurch Nz

Prior to deciding where to stay in Christchurch New Zealand, it is worth taking the time to consider all the options. You may be staying in Christchurch on business, checking up on family, or just touring around. You may be on a budget, looking for a luxurious romantic getaway or wanting comfortable accommodation with facilities to suit your needs.

It does not take long by international comparison to get to the central city from any of the suburbs.

If you prefer to stay in the country, closer to animals, then you will be able to find accommodation in the country with around a 30 minute drive to be in the city. Even during peak travel times it would not take much over 45 minutes.

Christchurch has a population of around 368,000 people.

Christchurch Backpackers

From the beaches to the central city is roughly a 15 to 30 minute drive. By bus you will be looking at 25 to 40 minutes plus any time spent waiting for the next bus.

Christchurch streets are laid out in a grid like pattern with many streets nestled in behind the main streets. Hotels, motels, apartments and even bed and breakfasts can be found in places undiscovered by the tourist.

Christchurch Port Hills

Like any city, Christchurch also has areas you will not necessarily be aware of. One of our fancied spots is the suburb of Sumner found on the beach at the foot of the Port Hills.

Here is a village offering very much its own village atmosphere and a relaxed setting. There are a selection of Christchurch beaches where you will find accommodation, most of the other beaches are on a more open strip of beach front from South Brighton up to Spencer Park.

There are some delightful places to stay on the Port Hills, the backdrop to Christchurch City. Places to stay on the hills tend to be more the homestay or bed and breakfast type of accommodation.

Christchurch New Zealand

Usually the large Christchurch Hotels are found in the Christchurch CBD, although there are also a few out by the airport. There are Christchurch hotels with a smaller amount of accommodation found in across Christchurch including Christchurch beaches, the suburbs and the Christchurch rural area.

Rangiora is a township to the north of Christchurch. Many people travel from there to their work in the city. To stay away from the city, you may enjoy a stay either in Rangiora or in the rural area between there and the city.

The rural area around Christchurch offers a selection of homestays, farmstays or bed and breakfast accommodation as well as a choice of lodges.

All Inclusive Vacations For Families

When I was single I had no trouble deciding where to go on my vacations. My friends and I just chose places with the hottest nightlife scene where we could drink, dance, and meet members of the opposite sex.

Oh how things change when the kids come along. The carefree go with the flow vacations just do not fit in with family life as with the kids comes so many different considerations

Everyone knows that one of the most popular family vacation spots is Orlando, Florida. There are so many different theme parks, including Walt Disney World, Sea World, and Universal Studios, as well as numerous other events and places to visit as well, like the beaches of course

The internet is an ideal source to find good family vacation spots and you’ll be simply overwhelmed by the amount of information your searches will return searches returned!

Interestingly the all inclusive holiday is getting very popular. I had always been under the impression that those kinds of packages were reserved for singles or couples, but I guess I was wrong given the number now available for families as well.

The all-inclusive deals seemed to good to pass up especially as the family vacation is a time for everyone to relax so the less of the chores there are to do the more enjoyable the vacation will be.

Puerto Del Carmen, Lanzarote’s Main Tourist Region

On the sunny sun kissed south coast of Lanzarote nestling comfortably against a backdrop of steep hills you can find Lanzarote’s main tourist resort of Puerto Del Carmen.

The popularity of this resort however can be principally attributed to the magnificent golden sandy beach that runs about two miles along the seafront here.

The beach is a favorite with families as the sheltered beach offers safe bathing, and there are several water-based activities available including pedalo, banana boat rides and plenty more.

It is alongside the beach that you will find the promenade of Avenida De Las Playas or more commonly known as ‘The Strip’

Puerto Del Carmen has an abundance of restaurants to choose from, it doesn’t matter what taste buds you have there is something to suit everyone. While walking around you will find most of the restaurants along ‘The Strip’. There are restaurants offering local cuisine also you will find Mexican, Chinese, and Indian restaurants.

A great choice for families would be Harley Rock this is an American style diner, Lani’s is a favorite offering local and English cuisine.

Many people go back to this lovely island year after year sometimes maybe once or twice a year. For those looking for a property in Lanzarote , this is the best way to go about it, if you come a few times it gives you the chance to explore the island further to decide where you would like to live best.

There are houses, apartments, fincas (farms), and some areas lovely bungalows; it is worth hiring a car to explore the island further to find that ideal Lanzarote property for sale of your dreams.

There are certain steps you must take if you have selected your dream home or investment property. The way you buy property back home is totally different to buying property abroad; it is of paramount importance that you fully understand the purchasing process.

All the proper legal channels have to be adhered to and you must never part with any money until you have gone through this process.

The first thing for you to do would be to get yourself a good lawyer or agent, they will then make a local search on the property you are wishing to purchase at the land registry.

This is really important to make sure there are no outstanding charges or mortgage against the property. They will also do a second search to check for any outstanding bills like electricity, local rates or water or more importantly community charge. Buying property for sale in Lanzarote like anywhere else requires the help of legal advice.

Uk Vacations - Southampton

You’ll find Southampton on the sunny south coast close to some wonderful beaches along the south coast; a short drive away from the untouched natural glories of the New Forest; a simple train journey from London; and in a part of the country with perhaps the best climate in Britain.

Located on the mouth of the Solent, one of the busiest water highways in the world. Southampton enjoys a real maritime culture as you will experience, watching the many yachts criss-crossing Solent water will give you a good idea of how busy it is.

This location also means that Southampton has an excellent maritime history and why it is the chosen home berth of many of the finest cruise ships the world has ever seen.

Southampton maritime heritage goes back centuries principally due to its location on the mouth of the Solent.

The climax of the planned events comes in September with the world famous Southampton Boat Show, held at Mayflower Park on the waterfront and the place to go to see the cutting edge of contemporary yacht design and the latest maritime innovations.

Southampton’s heritage gives it a legacy of historical buildings and the area is steeped with archaeological finds depicting the history of the area and how it must have been to live all those years ago.

One of the finest examples has to be the medieval town gate called Bargate which is one of the best examples in the UK. Bargate also forms the cities logo.

If you’re hoping to see some of the best Art Galleries or Museums outside London, then again Southampton offers you plenty of choice. The elegant art deco City Art Gallery is at the heart of the cultural quarter and the nearby Millais Gallery features the work of less well-known up and coming artists.

Southampton also has a thriving music and arts program throughout the year with cultural music events taking place throughout the city and many live music venues. Which are popular with both the young and older city revellers?

If you prefer classical or jazz then perhaps the Turner Sims concert hall will be more to your liking as it features many classics renditions as well as local and international performers.

Of course, no visit to a new city would be complete without some obligatory shopping so no disappointments here as Southampton’s shopping centre is short listed as one of the top 10 in the country.

Cruise Ship Activities For Kids Under Twelve: Guide

Cruise ships are a great place to have your next vacation. If given the chance, many parents would choose to take a cruise without the kids. This isn’t because of a lack of love, but because of a common misconception among parents and cruise ships. Many parents, believe that cruise ships are not designed for kids, but that is simply not true.

If you are the parent of a child under the age of twelve, you may be wondering whether or not they should accompany you on your next cruise. If you are able to financially afford an additional ticket, you are encouraged to consider bring your son or daughter along. Not only will a cruise be memorable to your child, but it will be exciting. That is because a large number of cruise lines have tailored their cruise ships to children of all ages, including those under the age of twelve.

If you have yet to book your cruise ship reservations, you are encouraged to keep cruise ship activities in mind. The activities for children, under the age of twelve, will vary from ship to ship. That is why it is key that you examine each ship before making a final decision. Despite the fact that activities will vary from ship to ship, there are many activities geared towards kids, under the age of twelve, which can be found on almost all cruise ships.

One of the many popular activities found aboard a cruise ship is a gaming. Arcade rooms are common on most cruise ships. They offer kids, under the age of twelve, a safe place to have fun and be a child. Many cruise ship arcade rooms are staffed with cruise ship employees, but this should not deter you from keeping an eye on your child. When leaving them alone in an arcade room, you are encouraged to use your best judgment.

Another fun activity for kids, under the age of twelve, includes swimming. All vacation cruise ships are equipped with a swimming pool. In addition to an adult sized swimming pool, wading pools can often be found aboard a number of popular family themed cruises. As with the arcade room, you are encouraged to use your best judgment when allowing your children to swim unattended. Lifeguards will be on duty; however, they cannot always guarantee the safety of your child.

In addition to a swimming pool and an arcade room, most cruise ships have an onboard movie theater or a performance stage. A large number of cruise lines offer family friendly movies, plays, and other performances. Children, under the age of twelve, may find these performances and movie showings fun and exciting. To determine if movie showing and performances are targeted to those under twelve, you are encouraged to check a cruise ship’s itinerary. A ship’s itinerary can be viewed with or without previously booked reservations.

Cruise ship restaurants and other dining facilities are likely to cater to kids, under the age of twelve. Many restaurants offer kids’s menus. These menus are likely to include tasty, but kid sized meals. The cost of your kid’s meals will vary from ship to ship; however, many cruise ships offer discounts on meals for kids under the age of twelve.

Cruise ship childcare centers are facilities that benefit both parents and their kids. While on a family vacation, even you need a break. For free or a small fee, you should be able to leave your kids in the care of a trained and experienced childcare worker. Since a cruise ship is likely to have passengers of all different ages, many childcare facilities are grouped together by ages. As with most other services, you will find that one cruise ship’s childcare policy may vary form another’s.

And of course there may be the opportunity to learn new skills such as face painting. It’s great fun - whether you are the one getting your face painted or the one doing the painting.
You could even learn to face paint before you go and take your paints with you. Think of the adventures to be had on bopard!
face painting designs face painting designs face painting patterns

The above mentioned activities, services, and facilities are just a few of the many that are targeted to kids, aged twelve and under. If you are satisfied with the above mentioned services, facilities, and activities, you may want to consider planning your next family vacation aboard a cruise ship.

Late Mobile Phone Insurance Saves The Day

After landing at Malaga Airport after a very smooth flight with easy jet. I reached in to my pocket and removed my mobile phone, as the seatbelt light had just gone out I decided to turn the phone on and send family a quick text to say we had landed safely. Just as I switched it on the captain announced over the intercom that mobile phones had to remain powered down until you were inside the terminal building, this was to comply with Spanish legislation. Now as I am a conforming kind of chap I quickly depressed the on and off button to power down the phone.

This on/off button has caused me a problem a few times lately, when the power button is pressed, nothing happens, now I knew any second now my mobile phone was going to start beeping, alerting me to any new text messages that had been sent in the last few hours whilst the phone was off during the flight. I decided rather than suffer the humiliation of being caught with my phone on I would whip the back cover off and take the battery out!

Mobile Phone Insurance

Getting my finger nails under the corner of the battery I gave it a quick tug and the phone jumped out of my grip – after hitting the hard corner of the outer seat row that I was sitting on! Well at least the battery was out and the phone was now off, the battery was lying in the middle of the isle, just one row in front of me. I picked up the phone and the battery and started to place them together again. This was the moment I could see the screen was smashed on my phone! Now at this point I would normally have emitted a few words that I would not want my children to hear, but today that was not the case!

Quite simply as this was just the start of the holiday, a damaged mobile was not going to get me down! The fact was, I was actually grinning to myself about the misfortune of my N95, you see just three days before travelling, at the same time as purchasing some Travel Insurance I decided to purchase some Nokia Mobile Phone Insurance !

Now I have never insured my phone before, I have never really seen the point. But after being advised by my network provider that the replacement value was around £400 for this phone and being aware I was off to Spain for a couple of weeks of Sun, Sand, Sea and plenty of sangria I bit my lip and purchased some Mobile Insurance. I am so glad that my mobile was protected, -just £6.00 a month and it’s saved me nearly £400 straight away!
