After landing at Malaga Airport after a very smooth flight with easy jet. I reached in to my pocket and removed my mobile phone, as the seatbelt light had just gone out I decided to turn the phone on and send family a quick text to say we had landed safely. Just as I switched it on the captain announced over the intercom that mobile phones had to remain powered down until you were inside the terminal building, this was to comply with Spanish legislation. Now as I am a conforming kind of chap I quickly depressed the on and off button to power down the phone.

This on/off button has caused me a problem a few times lately, when the power button is pressed, nothing happens, now I knew any second now my mobile phone was going to start beeping, alerting me to any new text messages that had been sent in the last few hours whilst the phone was off during the flight. I decided rather than suffer the humiliation of being caught with my phone on I would whip the back cover off and take the battery out!

Getting my finger nails under the corner of the battery I gave it a quick tug and the phone jumped out of my grip – after hitting the hard corner of the outer seat row that I was sitting on! Well at least the battery was out and the phone was now off, the battery was lying in the middle of the isle, just one row in front of me. Now at this point I would normally have emitted a few words that I would not want my children to hear, but today that was not the case!

Now I have never insured my phone before, I have never really seen the point. If you will be visiting Universal Studios, you need to be prepared. Arriving at the park unprepared can literally ruin your vacation! Follow these tips to help you get the most out of your Universal Studios Tour adventure.

It will be very hot. Make sure that you dress in cotton clothing that is cool or quick wicking technical materials. Leave small babies and toddlers with a sitter. They will not enjoy Universal Studios, and they will make sure that you don’t enjoy it either if you bring them. Consider purchasing VIP passes which will allow you to move to the front of the lines for the attractions. This is a huge time saver, and will keep you from wasting valuable time and getting bored.

Avoid eating inside the park if you can. It is very expensive, and the food is much cheaper right outside the gates in City Walk. Also save your shopping for the end of the day, so you don’t have to carry packages around with you. Universal
Studios Tours does have a package delivery service, which will allow you to pick up your purchases at the end of the day near the exit, in case you find a souvenir that simply won’t wait until closing time.

Carhenge - Alliance, Nebraska

As the title implies, this is a model of one Stonehenge, one of the most famous sites in the world. The only difference is that instead of monolithic blocks of stone, this structure is made completely from the bodies of old cars.

Carhenge is not the only sculpture in the park, of course. The Spawning Salmon, created by Sandhurst shows a giant fish rising from the ground. Dino, is a sculpture of a large dinosaur that looks similar to a Tyrannosaurus Rex. The Fourd Seasons is a sculpture that is very unqiue to the state – it shows the four stages of the wheat that is grown in the state. The Carnestoga is a station wagon that is modeled to resemble a Conestoga wagon from times past – it even has wagon wheels and “horses” hitched to the front!

Carhenge is open 365 days a year, and the preferred visiting hours are during the day. Admission to the park is totally free, but they willingly accept donations. These donations are used for the maintenance and upkeep of the area.
