Predetermine The Sex Of Your Baby- The 3 Top Reasons To Do So

We’ve all heard the myths surrounding the topic of baby gender selection but until now, they were just that- myths… or old wives tales…
Fortunately, we live in a time where science continues to make great strides to help us understand the world around us and how we fit into it. These advances have lead to understanding on how we can lead longer, healthier lives, how we can fight disease and yes, even methods by which couples can safely and naturally choose the gender of their baby with up to 98% accuracy!

There are many reasons why natural gender selection is the best option for parents, but lets look at the most common reasons as to why it is the top rated method:

• The process of natural gender selection is by far the most inexpensive method that parents can employ to determine the sex of their baby. Other methods that are not nearly as safe can cost between $500 all the way up to $5,000!
• Without going into too much detail, using this method for gender selection is by far the most “fun” method. You see…you have to put in a lot of “effort” more then anything to “get it done right”. While the benefit of this isn’t exactly to add more spice into the sex life of partners, it does however greatly increase the enjoyment of the couple trying to increase their chances of getting pregnant at the right moment and time so that they can predetermine the sex of their future child.
• Last, natural gender selection is just that…NATURAL. This is a huge reason as to why natural gender selection is preferred over other methods of predetermining the babies sex . There are no harmful side effects for both the mother and the baby, making it extremely safe to go about the process of figuring out your baby’s gender.

When it’s all said and done, the process of natural gender selection will outweigh all other process of gender selection 10 to 1. The most important aspect of this article that you should take to heart is the safety and health factor. The last thing that any parent ever wants to do is jeopardize the health and well being of their unborn child…not to mention the risk the mother takes upon herself with unnatural methods.

How To Become Pregnant

The nine months of pregnancy is a crucial period for both the mother and the fetus. It is over this period of time that a fertilized egg develops into a fully formed newborn. The pregnancy period can be broken up typically into three stages called trimesters. Each of these trimesters spans over a period of roughly three months or thirteen weeks. Though there are no hard and fast rules regarding the demarcation of the periods yet the changes that take place over the months are better described with distinctions being made between the trimesters. The mom-to-be ought to learn up certain things about the stages of pregnancy and the adequate care thereof.

How do you deal with pregnancy advice? People love to give advice to pregnant women in the pregnancy period, in fact a pregnant woman needn’t even ask. A child is a gift from God. Unfortunately, not all people are given these gifts. Some couples do not get to have children while others had to wait a long time before they were given children. There are actually a host of reasons why women do not get pregnant. With the complexities of both the male and the female reproductive system, reasons for not conceiving are innumerable. But there are still ways to increase your chances of getting pregnant. Here are some of them

Smoking decreases your fertility and reduces your chances of getting pregnant. To enhance your fertility it will be a lot easier to quit now than do it later. Smoking may also lower sperm count and can affect you even if it’s just second hand smoke you’re inhaling. It’s also important to stop smoking once you’ve gotten pregnant because the habit can cause miscarriage and premature birth.

Mind your weight. Most overweight men and women find it difficult to conceive. Underweight women are also not as fertile as women in their ideal weight range. One way to enhance your fertility is to find out what your ideal body mass index is and work gradually to reach it to increase your chances. While you’re at it, keep your body healthy by eating right, exercising and taking the necessary vitamin and mineral supplements.

Prepare yourself. If you want to enhance your fertility and get pregnant, your body should be ready for it and that includes your genitals. Avoid using artificial lubricants and vaginal sprays to allow your vagina to maintain a normal and healthy environment that is friendly to sperm. Artificial stuff can affect vaginal and cervical mucus, making it more difficult for sperm to do their work. For the men, it will help to keep your testicles cool to enhance your fertility and produce healthy sperms. Sperm are produced in an environment that is outside of the body, away from normal body heat. Avoid constricting underwear and go for looser boxer shorts instead.

While one of the perks of trying to get pregnant is having lots of sex it may be helpful for you to learn how to predict your time of ovulation. Once you have pinpointed your ovulation time the more sex you have during the 24-48 hour time frame the greater your chances are of becoming pregnant. Since the sperm can live in a woman’s body for up to four days, knowing roughly when your ovulation is happening can be really useful in getting pregnant quickly. There are ovulation test kits and calendars that can help you predict when this time will occur monthly

Seek outside help. If all your efforts to enhance your fertility and conceiving still don’t work, maybe it’s time you see your doctor. A physical check up will help your doctor rule out any physiological problems you or your partner may have that may be keeping you from getting pregnant.

Free advice is available in plenty and it is true for pregnancy advice as well. While seeking any advice or following it, be warned to cross check every bit of information with your pregnancy doctor. One of the best pregnancy tips I can give you is - stop smoking, preferably before you get pregnant but certainly once you are pregnant. Smoking is bad for the baby’s health, even secondary smoke so avoid smoky environments and ask people not to smoke around you.

· Stop drinking. No level of alcohol during pregnancy has been proven safe so stay off the alcohol throughout your pregnancy and while nursing.

· Exercise. Always check with your health care practitioner to make sure you get the amount of exercise that is right for you (in some circumstances exercise is not advisable) but as a general rule exercise is beneficial. It has been shown that exercising while you are pregnant can help reduce the time you spend in labour, aid your recovery following the birth, reduce the need for cesarean, help you return to your pre-pregnancy weight quicker and improve your overall health.

· Another top pregnancy tip is to change your eating habits as soon as you find out you are pregnant. Can Morning Sickness Be Dangerous?

It is very important to distinguish between the ‘normal’ nausea and vomiting associated with morning sickness to that of Hyperemesis Gravidarum. As hyperemesis can be dangerous to both mother and baby therefore early detection is essential. The expectant mother can often lose up to 10% of her body weight making dehydration a very real possibility. Her unborn baby is also at risk of nutritional deficiency. Metabolic imbalances can result from little intake, in turn this can lead to personality changes such as mood swings and depression.

Due to the profound impact that hyperemesis can have it is vital that it is detected and treated as soon as possible. Only a doctor can diagnose hyperemesis, at the bottom of this article the warning signs and symptoms that should prompt a discussion with a midwife or doctor are listed. Misdiagnosis of hyperemesis is not unusual so if symptoms persist a second opinion should be sought

Research has shown that there is a clear difference in the outcomes of mothers with mild morning sickness compared to those with severe cases. Those with mild pregnancy nausea and vomiting tend to have no side effects, whereas extreme cases lead to extreme fatigue, ketosis , gastric irritation, gastric ulcers, esophageal bleeding and malnutrition just to name a few.

Research clearly dileantes between morning sickness and hyperemesis gravidarum. Morning sickness tends not to have any affect on the health of either mother or baby whereas hyperemesis can cause severe dehydration, bleeding of the esophagus- due to excessive vomiting, stomach ulcers and ketosis.

Extreme morning sickness can be difficult to treat. The earlier the intervention the better the outcome, that is why it is so essential that early advice is sought if morning sickness seems severe. Treatment will normally concentrate on re hydration, reducing triggers of vomiting and providing adequate nutrition.

Below is a list of signs and symptoms indicative of hyperemesis. Consultation with a doctor is essential to confirm a diagnosis of hyperemesis and to begin early treatment. Historically hyperemesis has been under diagnosed so if symptoms persist a second opinion ought to be sought.

# Vomiting, mucus, bile or blood
# Rapid weight loss (2+ lbs/wk)**
# Sensitive gag reflex
# Excessive salivation
# Constipation (If severe**)
# Difficulty sleeping
# Fainting** or dizziness
# Ketosis** (ketones are found in your urine using a dipstick test)
# Vomiting small amounts food/drink**
# Loss of skin elasticity
# Pale, waxy, dry skin
# Body odor (from rapid fat loss & ketosis)
# Rapid heart rate**
# Headache
# Food aversions
# Increased sense of smell
# Secondary anxiety/depression
# Intolerance to motion/noise/light
# Dry, furry tongue, thirst
# Confusion**
# Extreme fatigue
# Rapid weight loss (2+ lbs/wk)**

Even if you only have a few of these symptoms - please contact your doctor

Tips For Dealing With Depression During Postpartum

Many women who experience postpartum depression go untreated. They feel guilty about these feelings and don’t let others know, or think it is normal and don’t want to make a fuss.

The exact numbers of women who suffer with postpartum depression are unknown, since tracking the incidence is difficult. Researchers believe that this is a common complication during and after a pregnancy for some women.

If you have any of these symptoms, tell your doctor. He or she will be able to give you something so you can function through this time and so you will feel better.

Some postpartum depression symptoms include:

- Insomnia

- Constant fatigue

- Sever mood swings

- Loss of sexual interest

- Trouble concentrating

- Excessive worry over the baby

Researchers believe that the immense changes in the hormone levels of a woman may lead to depression, much like minute changes during a menstrual cycle can lead to emotional upheaval and mood swings.

Another cause of postpartum depression could be that there is a drop in the thyroid hormone after the delivery of a baby. Located in the neck, the thyroid glad is responsible for metabolism regulation.

Since early intervention and treatment can result in a quicker recovery with less emotional pain for the couple, women, their husbands, family, friends and physicians need to be aware of the potential development of this condition so treatment begins as soon as possible.

The Three Stages of Pregnancy

3rd Trimester ~ Common Complaints, Natural Solutions

Pregnancy, a time when a woman glows with the anticipation of her new joy; the life she brings into this world, a time of wonder, a time of amazement, a time that can feel like an eternity when common complaints of pregnancy make us feel less than glowing! Although pregnancy is a wondrous thing the back aches, breathlessness, rib pain and high blood pressure can leave a woman worn out and overwhelmed. Fortunately there are natural solutions for common complaints that really do work.

In the Third Trimester most women begin feeling just as bad if not worse than they felt in the first trimester of pregnancy. The fewer complaints in the second trimester from what was felt in the First Trimester was like a welcomed vacation; however in the third trimester we come back home and it is fully evident that we are very, very pregnant.

Back aches and rib pain is experience in nearly every pregnancy and can range from fairly mild to extreme. The pain of a back ache is usually in the lower back and goes down the legs; this can be aggravated by standing for long periods of time. Twisting or turning as well as poor positioning while sleeping also causes and contributes to back pain. Hormones again are at play in this situation that will allow your joints and ligaments to loosen to assist your body and prepare it for birth. Massages for the back and strengthening exercises can help as well as proper alignment from a chiropractor, wearing flat supportive shoes and sleeping on a firm mattress. The rib pain that is often felt is usually caused by the uterus pressing into the abdomen and in turn into your ribs. Tiny baby feet will find there way under the rib cage as well as baby stretches in the head down position preparing for birth. There is little that can be done for this complaint other than wearing comfortable loose clothes and stretching the abdomen a bit with an exercise ball or by leaning into a wall as you face it.

Along with the rib pain many women experience breathlessness, like there is just not enough room for baby and lungs too, this is kind of often the case. Often breathlessness and rib pain will subside a bit after week 36 when the baby drops into the birthing position. Propping up with pillows while laying down or even sitting can help move the baby off of the diaphragm, experiment with positions to find what is most comfortable and effective is about the only solution.

High blood pressure can be common and must be addressed in pregnancy. High blood pressure in pregnancy needs to be carefully monitored by a health care provider to avoid serious complications such as eclampsia and even death. Some ways to prevent high blood pressure before it begins is a healthy diet, avoiding caffeine, spicy foods and nicotine and exercising regularly. Mild to moderate high blood pressure can often be controlled by deep relaxation, meditation, eating raw garlic, parsley and onion as well as cucumber. Always follow the recommendations of the health care provider and check with him or her before any herbal or other supplements.

Just as there are many different complaints in the third trimester there are many different solutions and one of the best ways to obtain information is in mass numbers of experience. Reading books, web sites and message boards often can provide the information that not only matches the symptom but the personality as well. Seeing out the camaraderie of others who are going through it too gives a sense of community that can ease those blues. Remember to check with a health care provider before following herbal or any advice that creates a feeling of doubt…better to be safe.

Relief Tips for Pregnant Women

The article below is from a series of baby-related articles and videos about pregnancy problems

Pregnancy should be a time of your life where you’re glowing and feeling energized, but most of the time, it’s a period full of aches, pains and woes. The complaints of pregnancy discomfort are many and vary from woman to woman, but some of the most common complaints by pregnant women involve backaches, headaches, swollen feet, heartburn, and dealing with the heat. There’s help and relief available for many pregnancy pains, and it’s just a matter of finding the solution that works for you. Here are some quick rescue tips that may help reduce your discomfort.

Morning sickness is a big discomfort you may have to deal with. Mostly, it passes after the sixteenth week but there are ways to lessen the symptoms. Eating smaller meals on a more frequent basis can help, as well as staying away from spicy foods or other favourites you know will end up making you feel ill. If you do suffer from morning sickness, do carry water with you during the day and sip at it constantly, as dehydration commonly goes hand-in-hand with feeling sick and vomiting.

Headaches are another common complaint of pregnant women and you can have some killer migraines. Try to lie down in a dark room and close your eyes to rest. Some women find a cool cloth on their forehead to be helpful in easing the pain. You can take some acetaminophen safely, following the recommended dosage.

Heartburn is a complaint of advanced pregnancy months, when your growing baby pushes more on your stomach and causes acid reflux. You can try propping yourself up when you lie down, so that the upper part of your body is above your tummy. The foods you eat can affect whether you get heartburn or not and meal size can be a significant factor as well. A full stomach and a baby don’t go well together at all. Should you need medication to ease the discomfort, Maalox is the best choice, or your doctor can provide you with a prescription.

Feeling hotter than usual is something many expectant mothers experience. Dress comfortably and in layers so that if you do feel too warm, you can take some clothing off. Summertime is harder on pregnant women, and the heat can make you feel quite uncomfortable, so stay near a fan or a pool and feel free to shed as many clothes as you need. It’s better to not cover yourself up and expose your skin to the air so your body can cool itself down more efficiently.

Your spouse or loved one can help ease some of your pregnancy discomforts. There’s nothing more wonderful than a nice massage to soothe an aching back or swollen feet, and your tender tootsies could even profit from a cool bath and being propped up. Your pharmacist can help you find an over-the-counter solution to other woes, such as yeast infections, and if you feel that you can’t find any solution at all, even after consulting parenting-related websites and community forums for pregnant women, ask your doctor or natural health practitioner if he or she can advise you on ways to ease your complaints.

What to Say to Your Children about the New Baby

You are expecting a baby and you are thrilled! You have a new little baby on the way, scheduled for delivery in a few months. If you have other children, how do you know when to tell them they are going to have a new little sister or brother?

How To Tell Your Children About The New Baby

You want to carefully plan when and how to explain to your children about the new baby. You also need to plan how you are going to support them through your pregnancy and the delivery.

Let’s face it, bringing a new baby into the home is both an exciting time and a disruptive time in the lives of young children. Even teenagers find that a new baby is effects their lives. They will probably have their nightly sleep interrupted for at least a few weeks, and mom might not have the time or energy to drive them to their own events.

Both mom and dad are responsible for preparing other children for the new baby. It’s important that mom and dad are understanding of any reactions and make this a positive time.

When To Tell Your Children About The New Baby

How do you know when to tell your children about the new baby? It will really depend upon their age and development. If you have a child between 2 and 3 years old they might have a hard time sharing your attention, their possessions and your time. When you begin furnishing the nursery is a good time to start explaining that they have a new little sister or brother coming.

This is a great time to get a picture book about how babies develop and are born. There are great resources available to help you explain and show pictures that they can understand.

Changing your youngsters schedule (such as beginning nursery school) or asking them to learn a new independent skill (potty training, for example) close to the time the new baby is born may make them feel as though it is their sibling’s fault. If you cannot make those changes well before the new baby’s arrival, wait until after the baby is born and the schedule at home is settled.

If you have children who are 4 or 5 you can begin to tell them at the same time you are telling friends and relatives. It is better they hear it from you than from one of those friends or relatives.

After the Delivery

When the delivery time comes and you are at the hospital for a day or two, you can call home frequently. You can also encourage your other children to visit and meet their new sibling. If for some reason they are not able to visit at the hospital then a digital camera with pictures of mom and new little one is a great way to help them through this time.

Whatever you do, be sure you do not neglect your other children. Spend as much time with them as you can, and try to make the new baby’s arrival as pleasant as possible.
