The Celebration Of Life

It has been a tradition since the earlier years to give birthday presents when a person turns a year older. This has been carried on to this day but back then, things were done quite differently. There were also certain practices and customs when birthday presents were given. Although most still live on today, there are some that aren’t practiced as much anymore.

There is one practice when the birthday boy or girl gets to wear a special corsage that is decorated with objects like candies and other inexpensive gifts that corresponds to their age. This is usually made up of lollipops, gums, and other sweets. Don’t expect to see any Zippo lighters since these are usually being practiced by kids. The birthday celebrant then gets to wear the special corsage the entire day at school.

On a person’s birthday, he is usually given special treatment by all his friends and family. This is particularly true when it comes to kids who look forward each year for their birthday. Being given special treatment is something that kids love. For the adults, the same can’t be said. Some even despise the thought of their birthday coming up since it will only remind them that they aren’t getting any younger each year.

Another tradition that still lives on today is the birthday party. Kid’s birthday parties usually include playing games like pin the tail on the donkey and hitting pi¤atas. Birthday presents, which are mostly toys, are plenty from parents, relatives, and friends. Adults still celebrate birthday parties but without the pi¤atas. It is more formal, like having dinner in a classy restaurant, and it usually includes [spin]alcohol|liquor[spin], too. Gifts are more practical like credit card holders and personalized money clips, which are quite useful for adults.

Some of these traditions are still being practiced while others aren’t anymore, but that doesn’t mean birthdays are any less special. It is just like that with time. Things come and go, and there are other things that really do stay for good. One thing is for sure, though. Celebrations for birthdays are sure to live on for a long time.
